Expanded Polypropylene (EPP)

Expanded Polypropylene (EPP) is a closed-cell foam known for its flexible and lightweight properties. We provide quality EPP to an impressive list of automotive Tier 1 and Tier 2 customers. The platen sizes of our machines range from 600 × 800 mm to 1300 x 1800 mm.

EPP’s high energy absorbent properties combined with characteristic lightness make it a vital material in various industries. EPP also has a high capacity of energy absorption which is unchangeable after multiple impact loading and repetitive shocks. It recovers remarkably after dynamic and static loading. Its distinct properties of high sound absorption, low water absorption and excellent chemical resistance have further fuelled its use in various fields.

High thermal resistance allows EPP to provide optimum heat insulation. Furthermore, EPP does not support microbial growth and can be made sterile with steam cleaning. This makes it appropriate for use in containers for food and beverages. However, the most distinctive features of EPP are its ecological properties. EPP is 100% non-toxic as it does not contain CFC or any other blowing agents, making it an environmentally-friendly product. EPP can also be recycled easily.

Applications of EPP in the Auto Industry

EPP is extensively used by automotive manufacturers because of its performance benefits with regard to being able to absorb repeated shocks, its light weight, its enhanced functionality, its durability and its recyclability. These properties make it an ideal choice for the automotive industry to manufacture various parts such as seat cores, bumper cores, sun visors, impact modifier blocks, tool and jack trays, load floors, dashboard panel pads, door panels, side impact protection panels, protector fenders, battery covers, head rests, helmets, etc. out of EPP.

Other Applications of EPP

EPP is resistant to water, chemicals and most oils. It can withstand multiple impacts without significant damage making its applications almost limitless. Reusable industrial packaging, known as dunnage, is frequently made from EPP due to its durability and its inherent ability to absorb energy in transit.

EPP’s thermal insulation properties and structural strength make it ideal for packaging and transporting hot/cold food and beverages. This property also makes it useful in the production of heat exchanger parts.

EPP’s ability to absorb impact makes it the perfect choice as packaging for computers, printers, peripherals and as protection corners for various cubic articles. It is even used extensively in the manufacture of computer housings.

Additionally, EPP has proved to be a versatile material and, therefore, we also provide it for a wide variety of packaging, defence and security applications.
